One Fine Day

Every year we spend one magical evening at this old amusement park lurking amongst cornfields.  It's summer at it's finest.  We gorge ourselves on free cotton candy, ice cream and snow cones.  We play ski-ball and spend our hard earned tickets on trinkets that for that one night seem treasures.  We ride the little roller coaster over and over again, running around to get right back into line as soon as we get off.  We watch for the lights to come on and light up the magical place where we've found ourselves.  We catch lightning bugs.  We wipe the sweat and look at each other and declare it the best day we've ever had.

When I think about moving, this is definitely one of the things I will miss.  My kids who have hardly uttered a negative word about moving were outraged that we might miss this magical day next summer.  I'm seriously thinking we might need to plan our vacation around it.  It really does mean that much to them.  And to me too.  I love to see the joy on their faces and spend that sweet time with them making memories that I know they'll look back fondly on someday.  But enough melancholy.  I'll have plenty of time for that later.  Today I'm sharing photos...what I do best. :)

I love how much my girl enjoys her food.

My mom always rides the ferris wheel with my boy.  I am not a huge fan, but I rode with my girl and was able to get this sweet shot of him turning around before I had a mild heart attack for fear he would fall out!

My girl with her little cousins who absolutely adore her.  She is so patient and tolerant with them, but she does reach her limits.  And she's a bit of a drama queen, you know, so I love that pic on the right.  So her...

I just love this serious expression I caught here.

Getting five kids to look at you while eating treats = impossible.

Oh yeah, there's free putt-putt!  My boy's favorite thing, with his favorite buddy.

I hope we find places like this when we move.  I know we will make new friends and new memories, but days like this make it hard to leave.

Faded Memories

Just another favorite photo from the beach this year that I wanted to share.  I almost deleted it when I saw on the back of the camera that it wasn't in focus.  I'm so glad I didn't.
