Photo Friday 2012 ~ 21 ~

We had a busy, busy week which is why I once again never got around to blogging.  I am so far behind.  I still haven't even shared about our vacation!  I will get to it eventually...I hope.  The most exciting event that took place this week was my daughter's second grade musical.  She had a solo and she had been practicing it for weeks.  The musical was about fairy tales and her character was Tiana from The Princess and the Frog.  She was supposed to dress like her and I was having a terrible time finding an affordable costume.  The ones you find in the dress up section are made for toddlers and if you have an older child you have to go to the Disney Store and pay almost $50 or make your own.  I don't sew, but luckily I have an incredibly talented Aunt who does (she even made my wedding dress!).  I called her up and we bought the fabric and a couple days later she had turned it into a gorgeous costume.  My daughter was like a little celebrity, all the little girls at school loved it.  She did great on her solo.  I was so proud.  I have to give a ton of credit to the music teacher at her school who does such a great job putting together this program and getting all the kids to memorize the songs and the motions and lines.  It's quite impressive!  And there are about 125 or so kids that are in it so it's no small feat.  I took some photos of my girl in her costume before the show.  Here are my favorites.

Here is a short video clip of the first song from the show.  If you go to my youtube page you can see clips from all the songs.  They are taking forever to upload so if you don't see any, check back later.

Then last night while my husband was mowing the neighbors lawn (the house behind us is vacant) he came across a rabbit hole full of baby bunnies.  My kids were so excited.  One little guy had hopped out of the hole and was burrowing a few feet away.  I think he was confused since the grass had been really long and now suddenly their hole was exposed.  We picked him up and petted him and held him for a minute before putting him back in his home.  When he got back in there you should have seen him trying to get comfortable and stepping on all his siblings in the process.  Of course, the kids wanted me to take photos, so here are a few.  My daughter even had to check on them this morning before school and she said they were all still there sleeping.  They are the cutest things ever!

My daughter holding him.

Tiny bunny feet!  Cutest thing ever!

My girl petting him one last time after he got comfortable.  What a cute position he's laying in!  I love his little foot up by his face.

Only three days of school next week and then they are done!  I'm so excited to have my kids home for the summer.  I can't wait to have some free time.  Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Photo Friday 2012 ~ 20 ~

This week's theme was 'mother'.  I have to say I was a little disappointed when I read the theme this morning because my mother is out of town and that is the first person I think of when I think of 'mother'.  And seeing as how I'm sitting around my house alone I don't really have any other mothers to take a photo of...of course, I guess that's what I get for not checking the theme until I'm about to sit down and write my blog post!  I really, really didn't want to take a photo of myself this morning.  I even went digging through our many seashells looking for a piece of mother of pearl to photograph, but I had no luck.  So you guys are stuck with another photo of me.  I took this standing on my deck holding the camera out and slightly up like some sort of ridiculous teenager.  Thank goodness none of my neighbors were outside...

My role as mother is such a huge part of my identity and I wouldn't change it for the world.  Here's me.  Mother of two.

I didn't take this photo this week, but I did take it a few weeks ago.  This is my mother.  She is so beautiful. I love her so much and I appreciate all she does for me.  When I was sick while we were on vacation she came down to our condo and helped to take care of me.  And she hates being around sick people.  So I know she loves me. : )  And she helped me to clean and pack because I wasn't feeling well.  She's such a selfless person and always willing to help out her kids.  And she adores her grandkids.  I couldn't ask for a more perfect mother.  I am so grateful for her example.  I love you, Mom!

Have a great weekend!  Check out more 'mother' photos at the link below.

Photo Friday 2012 ~ 18 & 19 ~

I think this is the first time I have ever combined two weeks into one post, but I have a good reason.  We were on vacation at the beach.  And it was heaven.  We took our laptop and I used it once.  Once...in 10 days.  How amazing is that?!  And it was wonderful not feeling the need to check on something constantly.  Not worrying if I have any emails that need attention, or questions from clients that I was neglecting to answer.  I just let it all go.  It was very freeing.  And I needed it.  I am slightly addicted to my computer and I guess realizing it is the first step in my recovery.  I'm trying to step away a bit more now that I am back, but I'm not gonna lie, it's really hard.  I need to use it for my photography and then the temptation to just check on one more thing, or look up one more thing is right in my face and hard to ignore.  But I'm working on it.  I will find a balance eventually.  I loved pretty much every minute of my vacation up until the part I got super sick with what I thought was sun stroke, then I thought maybe it was a migraine, and turns out I had strep throat.  I don't really want to talk about the part where I spent our last day at the beach falling asleep in the waiting room of an urgent care facility.  I feel much better now though.  I was going through the tons of photos (almost 1000, I think I set a new record for myself) and trying to narrow them down to a few to share and I was having a horrible time deciding what to post.  So I've decided to just share a few that I took at sunset one evening.  It turned out to be the perfect sunset for photos.  I have tons of pics of the beach and the pool and putt-putt and everything else that I will try to share in the next week when I get some down time.  Here are my favorites!

I love these two little people more than words can say.

This is just so them.  My girl being a ham and my boy just tolerating her.  I love it.

Love the soft pink light of the sunset in all of these.

My sweet, sweet boy.

I love how soft the sand looks in this one...I wish I were back there with my toes in it!  Of course, I love my little supermodel too.

I love how they are running in stride together.  I have some photos of them racing and jumping and they are literally doing the same exact thing in all the pictures...it's kinda freaky.  I'll share them a different day.

I love how she looks so young in this photo splashing through the waves.

Ahhh...do I really have to wait an entire year before I go back?  Torture...

I'll try to post more often now that I'm back.  I hate neglecting my blog!  Also, I'm linking up with my same Project 52 group who has moved to a different blog.  Be sure to check them out.  I totally did not even reference the themes for this week or last since I was on vacation since yes, I even took a vacation from the themes!  I'll try to get back on track for next week though!
